A Month to Remember

Being selected as one of only three South Australian fashion brands for the SAFIA × City of Adelaide ART POD Residency 2026 was a proud milestone for Threads of India.

For four wonderful weeks, the ART POD in Adelaide became more than just a retail space—it became a place where people could discover the stories behind Indian textiles, experience traditional craftsmanship, and connect with the values of slow, sustainable fashion.

Throughout the residency, we welcomed visitors from all walks of life. Some came to explore, some stayed for conversations, many discovered the beauty of handcrafted fashion, and quite a few left wearing a piece of India.

Sharing the Story Behind Every Garment

At Threads of India, every collection represents generations of artisan skill, carefully handcrafted fabrics, and timeless techniques that have been passed down through families for centuries.

The residency gave us the opportunity to share these stories in person—explaining the journey of our garments from artisan communities in India to wardrobes across Australia.

The genuine curiosity, thoughtful conversations, and appreciation we received reminded us why preserving traditional craftsmanship matters now more than ever.

The Collection

Our Block Printing Workshop

One of the highlights of the residency was our Traditional Indian Block Printing Workshop.

Visitors had the opportunity to experience one of India's oldest textile art forms by using hand-carved wooden blocks to print their own designs onto fabric.

It was wonderful to see people of all ages immerse themselves in the creative process—carefully selecting patterns, applying colours, and creating something unique with their own hands.

The workshop wasn't simply about learning a craft; it was about celebrating culture, creativity, and the artistry that continues to inspire everything we do at Threads of India.

Watching participants proudly take home their handmade creations was one of the most rewarding moments of the entire residency.

Connecting Through Fashion

One of the most memorable aspects of the ART POD residency was meeting so many wonderful people.

We had the privilege of connecting with local residents, visitors to Adelaide, artists, students, fashion enthusiasts, and customers who shared our passion for handmade, sustainable fashion.

Many visitors returned with friends and family after their first visit, while others found garments that truly resonated with them and became part of their personal story.

Every purchase represented more than just clothing—it was a meaningful choice to support ethical fashion and the skilled artisans behind every piece.

Seeing customers leave the ART POD wearing Threads of India with smiles on their faces was incredibly rewarding and a reminder of why we do what we do.
